Reliable, affordable, environmentally
 sound

Since 1988, PERC has been a reliable, affordable and environmentally
sound waste disposal solution for Maine.

We have generated thousands of megawatt hours of renewable electricity,
returned millions of dollars to Maine communities and received awards from the
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Maine Department of Environmental
Protection.

A recent top-to-bottom review by an international engineering firm had praise for our skilled workers and said that our plant is in such good shape we can operate successfully for many years to come.

Focused on the future

Looking to the future, we are making important new investments and finding innovative ways to make our operations more efficient, help us recover more metals and other recyclables, and allow us to process carpet, bulky wastes and other specialty waste materials that typically have gone direct to landfill.

We’re also finding new ways to use waste materials from other companies at
our facility, such as using rinse water from a local manufacturing business in our anti-slagging system, creating a win-win situation that takes problem materials out of the
waste stream and saves money.

With the recent end to our long-term Power Purchase Agreement, PERC now has the freedom and flexibility to serve more than just municipalities. We can contract directly with commercial waste haulers, create partnerships with other waste generators and processors, and help meet the needs of a dynamic electricity marketplace as a merchant power producer.

In addition, we are open to new opportunities with wood processors and others who might want to locate with us to take advantage of our skilled employees and our ability to generate electricity, as well as large volumes of process heat and steam.

A key part of Maine’s waste management system

All of this means we’re committed to ensuring that PERC remains a key part
of Maine’s integrated waste management system, offering innovative, cost-effective
options for every step of Maine’s Solid Waste Management Hierarchy.

In short, PERC works. We are here to serve Maine communities, companies and commercial waste haulers. Let’s talk about all the ways PERC can work for you.
